Skills Training for Abaca Rope Making

About 22 individual women from Brgy. Hinaplanon was identified by the Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits (ECOWEB), Inc. as the beneficiary of the BUB Project on Capacity Enhancement for Abaca Processing. Identification of the beneficiaries was easily aided by the help of the 2 Barangay Councilors Isabelo M. Mariquit Jr. and Nila B. Bordaje. The Training took in place through the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) wherein the beneficiary undergone the Skills Training on Abaca Rope Making. With this training, the capability of the Abaca Farmers and Producers will be boosted for they have the enough knowledge how to use the right technology in a strategic approach and profitable way. At the end of the training, beneficiary received a 1 set of Twisting/Twining Machine and a 1 unit of Mechanical Weighing Scale with a Capacity to weigh up to 150 kg which serves as a tool to develop the quality of their products.

Consultancy on Proper Caring of Sow and Raising of Hog

Dr. James Bayang visited the Beneficiaries of Swine (piglet production) Project of EcoWEB in Eastern Samar last August 31, 2015 to conduct a Consultancy on proper caring of sow and raising of hog. Community-based lectures with were done by Doc. James with EcoWEB Community Development Facilitator, Joyax Autida, in the 8 pilot Barangays of the municipalities of Salcedo, Mercedes and Guiuan. The project is funded by the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD).

Fish Processing - Training and Seminar

Women fisherfolks from Barangays Acmac and Santiago hope to have sustainable livelihoods someday that could augment the seasonal income of their husbands from fishing. Thanks to the Bottom-up-Budgeting program of the government, thru the facilitation of EcoWEB, these two women groups are able to access skills training support on fish processing from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Soon, they will be producing their bottled sardines at the Livelihood Center that shall be constructed in Barangay Acmac with the support of the German Embassy through EcoWEB.
